It was Jeremy Harding who, among many other things, shared this anecdote about Japanese tourists travelling to Jamaica with a dictionary ‘Japanese/Patois’, during his lecture session in Seattle. No need to run to the bookstore though, rudebwoys and gals, as this time around we are happy to upload the complete transcript of another legendary session with musicians from this hugely influential island, smoothing out language barriers and dropping knowledge on tings a gwaan.

Spanish festival season is still in full effect with what might be one the most impressive line-ups of this season overall. Almost 100 acts are gathering at this year’s Festival Internacional de Benicàssim, ranging from red top (Babyshambles) to red carpet (Róisín Murphy). Highlights include indie demigods My Bloody Valentine and Morrissey, as well as Radio Slave, Battles, Erol Alkan, Gnarls Barkley, Booka Shade, Joakim, and of course, Academy lecturers Ewan Pearson, John Acquaviva, and Superpitcher (as part of Supermayer). And who knows, maybe Justice will get their Moz feature after having a nice glass of Mouton-Rothschild together backstage?

Festival goers are in for a treat when they attend the Monegros Festival this weekend - adding to the killer line up, the Red Bull Music Academy stage keeps the low end heavy, with sets from Skream, Benga, TRG, and Real. Fresh from destroying the lounge speakers at Sonar, and dropping a bass-off mix versus Martyn on Mary Ann Hobbs' show this week, TRG is getting well into his stride.
