Stacy Epps and Everett James
With her songs floatin’ (
pun half-intended) around CD-R bags and taste-making blogs all across the globe,
Stacy Epps is definitely one to look out for in oh-nine. In her new edition of
Fireside Chat on RBMA Radio, she hooks up with long-time producer
Everett James to reveal the stories behind some of her most memorable tunes.
Stacy Epps is as much an MC as she is a progressive soul singer/songwriter. Having worked with artists such as
John Robinson (as Sol Uprising),
MF Doom,
Madlib,
Flying Lotus,
Oh No,
Aloe Blacc,
Jneiro Jarel,
Muhsinah,
Ammoncontact, and the legendary
Diamond D, her dulcet tones have appeared on classic releases on Stones Throw, Lex, and Plug Research amongst others. Last year, she self-released her debut LP Awakening and scored a nomination at the Worldwide Awards with the aforementioned lead single. With more unreleased future soul gems on her hard drive (a few of which are featured exclusively in this show), and everybody from Gilles P to Diamond D singing her praises, the future looks even brighter for this Atlanta homegirl.
