Patchworking found sounds and African drumming influences via her laptop, backed up with bass and drums, Piper’s music is a minimalist take on Gang Of Four or Tom Tom Club beats with pitched-down Nicolette-esque vocals bubbling up underneath: a sound described by herself as ‘electro-blues’, and took her from Simon Fraser University’s music department to the stage of the Commodore Ballroom to the 2008 Academy in Barcelona in just a few months.
