Stokey’s Subeena knows a thing or two about how to make bass lines bounce out the speakers. In between her classes studying music technology, and working at Warpmart, as well as rocking the decks back to back at club nights such as D.O.T.S., Baller$ 5ocial and Berlin’s Freak Camp, she also likes producing dark techno-flavoured dubstep for her own label Imminent Recordings (formerly known as Immigrant).

Here’s another standout cut from the Mary-Anne Hobbs-approved cosmopolitan that won’t be on her upcoming EP (featuring a tune with fellow Red Bull Music Academy 2008 participant Violet and a remix she did for Pepepe, who was also in Barcelona). “The track is one of those common cases where you start it because you're being inspired by a particular genre that you would like to reproduce your own way... and obviously you end up doing the exact opposite”, Sabs recalls. “In fact, when I started this one, I wanted to do a sort of bleepy techno track.”
