Pépé Bradock
Parisian house maestro
Pépé Bradock, whose idiosyncratic approach to 4/4 aesthetics has done his fair share in shaping the status quo of dance music, has fired over an exclusive mix we are thrilled to
share with you via RBMA Radio. Four hours (!) worth of amazing songs, woven together with the inimitable artistic acumen Pépé has been known for for almost 15 years. Essential.
When Julien Auger found rave culture and house music in the early ‘90s, he had already played in jazz and funk bands for several years, before taking over the turntables for various hip hop crews in Paris. It comes as no surprise then, that the music Auger has produced ever since – first as Trankilou and later as Pepe Bradock – undoubtedly betrays a massive depth and breadth of musical knowledge. Even more importantly, his approach reflects a mastery of many disciplines, as it often combines the musicality of a jazz player with the sample-heavy eclecticism of a hip hop head – all brought together with an understanding of ‘the groove’ that many house producers can only dream of.
