Monday's diary is a little something different. It comes from Robin 'Hannibal' Braun, a member of the Academy's studio team, who undertake to accommodate the needs of participants with varying expertises, skills and levels of experience in production. He is also the production, song writing and instrumental talent behind such bands as Quadrant, Non ++, Owusu & Hannibal and Boom Clap Bachelors.
Once mocked as boring music for boys and bloggers, dubstep has slowly been leaving its mark on everything around us. In today’s issue of the Daily Note, Joe Muggs goes looking for the new Detroit and finds it in Croydon.
Yesterday was another day for pioneers at the Academy, with lecturers Cluster and Don Letts. On the couch first was the don, a man credited with pioneering the synergy between the punk and reggae scenes of the mid-'70s. As well as forging ties between those two musical worlds, Letts was instrumental in documenting the fledgling punk movement through the films he shot and directed, continuing up to the present day.
