To celebrate the launch of the Academy's seasonal residency at Fabric, we sprung Spring like a bear trap, and embraced the LA west coast invasion with open arms. FlyLo and the crew descended on Smithfield Market with only one objective: to tear the roof off the sucker. While there might not be any artics, generators, or flashing lights, you still know exactly when the Brainfeeder circus comes to town. The recordings from the nights are now up and runnung on Red Bull Music Academy Radio – who also sat down with the label honcho to talk about the LA scene and hear some forthcoming Brainfeeder tunes, which you can catch on our special Fireside Chat with the man himself.
New music from Academy participant-ternt-lecturer-ternt-team-member, J-Wow of Buraka Som Sistema fame, out now on Deadly People. Touching on proto-jungle and post-big room trance, Klang marks a modest departure from the Buraka sound, reflecting João's last two years as a DJ as well as some of his musical experiences way beyond the accustomed batida and b'more boom.
Busy P is an inspiration to anyone who ever dreamt of getting tangled up in the quirky web of the music industry. Being a successful producer can be hard work. Running a serious record label can take up all your time. Managing artists can be a nightmare. Doing all of these things at the same time, dealing with some of the biggest acts in electronic music and carrying it all off with aplomb, well that can only be Busy P.

In the mid-nineties he took on management of a duo with little exposure outside of the French house scene. Daft Punk would go on to become one of the most influential dance acts of all time. And Pedro would go on to head up Ed Banger Records, releasing such artists as Justice, SebastiAn, Breakbot and Mr Oizo.
