Italians Do It Better (especially in Gräfenhainichen)

Crookers x Kid Cudi x Red Bull Music Academy x Melt!

Blue Magic: Melt! main stage in 2007
There ain’t no such thing as halfway Crookers – especially since this Milan-based remix task force is pretty much on top of its game these days. Not only are they featured on the new mixtape by Kid Cudi (that can finally be downloaded for free after internet myriads of eagerly awaiting here), sending Cleveland’s official answer to Devin The Dude on some sugared-out trip to mars via Sheffield, Rome, and Brooklyn. Also they’ll be headlining the Red Bull Music Academy Stage at Melt! Festival this Saturday, topping off an already serious line-up that also boasts a live set by The Count & Sinden, the Crookers’ former remix clients Edu K and Bondo Do Role, Man Recordings head honcho Daniel Haaksman, Vienna’s DJ Beware, German baile expat MC Gringo, Deize Tigrona (who’ll be featured on the upcoming Buraka LP Black Diamond, by the way), and Say Hooo! Friday night will see DJ sets by the Metalheadz massive (Goldie, Storm, Commix) plus tons of steppas’ delights, courtesy of Caspa and Melbourne lecturer Skream. For the full line-up please see here. Selected highlight sets will, of course, be broadcasted on Red Bull Music Academy Radio.

TRG don't sleep in Toronto... (pic: M Truong)
Festival goers are in for a treat when they attend the Monegros Festival this weekend - adding to the killer line up, the Red Bull Music Academy stage keeps the low end heavy, with sets from Skream, Benga, TRG, and Real. Fresh from destroying the lounge speakers at Sonar, and dropping a bass-off mix versus Martyn on Mary Ann Hobbs' show this week, TRG is getting well into his stride. You can catch his mix live from Sonar right here...

Missed Calls

TRG sets the tone

Bass Invader... TRG in pixels
It's not exactly just round the corner, but sometimes that can work in your favour. Bucharest's don of twisted garage TRG has been putting shower faces on dance floors all across the globe, from the dub steppers spiritual homes of Croydon, Mass, and Plastic People, to the techno-crats of Rotterdam and Manchester's breaks and d'n'b scenes.
