RBMA pres. Oval, Anenon and more @ The Empty Bottle, Chicago

Red Bull Music Academy presents modern experimental electronic artists Markus Popp with his musical project Oval, Spectrum Spools' Ren Schofield AKA Container, LA's NON Projects mastermind Anenon, and Natural Information Society.

With his Oval project, Markus Popp took the idea of the musician as an organiser of sound to delightful extremes, culminating in Ovalprocess, a software he created inviting users to make music in an environment that would take small loops from any given audio CD. After an extended break from the project, he returned with a radically new approach, using stock software and machinery, playing traditional instruments and re-evaluating the idea of Oval as a musical project in the traditional sense.

Academy graduate Anenon coaxes his signature cinematic tension from a sax and machines. After an internship at seminal LA label Alpha Pup, and a journey through music history and theory at UCLA, Brian landed at the foot of his own label Non Projects – inspired by the electronic sounds of his friends, taking his inspiration from the environment around him as much as the sounds in his own head.
