Red Bull Music Academy Night Johannesburg presents Culoe de Song & Jullian Gomes
The application phase for the 2012 edition of the Academy in New York City has started! To spread the vibe of the RBMA we're touching down in selected spots worldwide to give you a taste of what the Academy actually feels like. Have all your questions about the RBMA answered, learn a thing or two and have some fun along the way. Your DJs for tonight are former Academy participants, Culoe de Song and Jullian Gomes, who created some big waves since attending the Academy. Culoe might be one of the youngest people to participate in the Academy, but with an intuitive grasp of rhythm and soul you can only find in South Africa, he has been leading dancers into a spiritual trance after linking with previous Academy alumnus Black Coffee. Drawing inspiration from deep house and afrobeat alike, Culoe has delved deep into production, releasing on labels such as Innervisions or Tokyo's Mule Musiq. Jullian Gomes grew up in South Africa on a steady diet of Portugese chicken, soul, Latin and kwaito before discovering house music at the tender age of eight. He's released music on international labels and now rolls with UK vet Atjazz on his eternal quest to widen his horizons.
