For over 15 years, San Francisco-based Ubiquity, and its sister labels Luv N’ Haight and Cubop, have been releasing and reissuing all that’s soulful and funky, from obscure jazz to modern electronic. Head of A&R Andrew Jervis is a British expat who landed in SF on a whim and immediately began working for Ubiquity owner Michael McFadin at his legendary Groove Merchant record store on Haight Street. In this lecture, Jervis gives us a step-by-step primer on every piece of the record label puzzle.
