Sebastian Niessen was the synthesizer engineer for Kraftwerk playing an integral part in crafting those sounds, which were such an important precursor to the hip hop and dance music you hear today. Sebastian continued to work as a sound engineer, moving to NYC in '84 where he worked on soundtracks for Raising Arizona and Barton Fink. He is still an instrument designer and synth consultant, and has helped modify instruments for many of today's most forward-thinking artists: from Rob Hood to Peter Kruder, Aphex Twin to Richie Hawtin, Basic Channel and The Modernist. Mr Niessen is also an analogue producer himself, with releases on Compost and Mille Plateau.
