Classic UK Clubs Revisited

Longtime Academy couch team member Emma Warren recently produced a two-part BBC 1Xtra program that rewinds the clock and looks at the club nights that changed the course of black dance music history in the UK.
[Before we get into the actual meat of the program, we need to make a little disclaimer. Due to international copyright entanglements, these audio players only work in the UK. To all our family outside the long reach of the Royal Crown, we apologize. There are occasional workarounds for the cyberspace savvy, but we didn't say anything.]
With that business out of the way, Academy couch-team member, Soul Jazz compiler, and internationally renowned journalist Emma Warren recently produced a two-part program along with host Ronnie Herel for BBC's 1Xtra Stories entitled "Classic UK Clubs". The title sums it up succinctly, as the program delves deep into the netherworld of the Wild Bunch and Bristol's Dug Out club, Soul II Soul and the Africa Centre, and the Metalheadz crew at the Blue Note among many more. Tune in to some highlights from the programme below for stories, interviews, and sounds straight from the mouths of the pioneers themselves.
