Doubling as a New York restaurant manager, producer Clive Chin began his monumental label Impact! in the '70s - but this man, who recorded Augustus Pablo, Jackie Mittoo, Peter Tosh, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and The Wailer's first album, had already been raised on a steady diet of the island's music due to his pops Vincent Gauntlet Chin. Chin Senior played a massive role in bringing the blues & shuffle into Jamaican music through his shortwave radio broadcast in Kingston; extending the family affair to a record store and their renowned Randy's imprint, with young Clive helping out on the controls from the age of 15 they were recording a soundtrack to Jamaica's emerging independance from Britain and the birth of soundsystem culture.
