FSK, Munich, Germany
Michaela Melian grew up musically the classical way, playing with orchestras, but it was when she was at art college and was asked to form Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle with fellow contributors to the college newspaper, that she swapped the cello for the bass guitar. FSK have always been the punk bands punk band in spirit if not in style, with an against-the-grain ethos, that means they're likely to change shape just when you think you have a grip on them. Never one to respect convention, let alone chronology, we join Michaela on the couch as she discusses her latest art installations, and her Baden-Baden album, and then gradually journeys back in time, stopping to take in the view whenever there's some inspiring scenery.
