Bringing together Latin America’s freshest musical movements.

A unique glimpse into Latin America’s new music scene: pairing cult Brazilian artists with forward-thinking talent from all over South America. A workshop at Escola São Paulo sees musicians from across the continent exchanging inspiration; while a huge outdoor concert at Victor Civita square will showcase a rich mix of rhythms and flavours: from the freshest Afro-Colombian hip hop, to next-level Brazilian Afrobeat-Latin fusion, ...and Mexican techno-acoustic hybrids. Rebolledo

Rebolledo

Rebolledo hails from Xalapa in Mexico, records together with Cologne’s Superpitcher as Pachanga Boys and is one of Matias Aguayo’s wunderkinds on the amazing Comeme imprint. Working on an individual take on house and techno or electronic disco music for the lack of a better term, Rebolledo sounds like no one else. Really! Whatever his influences may be (he cites Giorgio Moroder, Daft Punk and Green Velvet), he does a very good job in turning them into something completely new.

Daniel Maloso

Daniel Maloso

Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, Daniel Maloso is right at the core of the new breed of young producers from Latin America. Endorsed by Cómeme’s Matias Aguayo, Dan Da Man has brought his psychedelic disco sounds to clubs all over Europe and released sureshots such as ‘Ritmo Especial’ or ‘Hijos De Jose’ (which were both included in Bleep/Warp’s top tracks of 2010/2011).

Bixiga 70

Bixiga 70

Sao Paolo natives Bixiga 70 will bring their genre-spanning mix of afrobeat, guinean malinké, brazilian candomblé, samba and cumbia to the party, accompanied by Academy alumni Gabriel Nascimbini, Bruno Morais and Mauricio Fleury. Taking Fela Kuti’s ‘Afrika 70’ band as a launchpad both in name and spirit, this ten piece band and their fusion of african and south american rhythms will cause havoc in the dance.
